How long have you been creating stock and what got you into it?
I have been creating stock (for this account) since March 2009. So 3 years and 8ish months.
A friend of mine, Bec - :icondarkness-sisters:, got me to try it out back in April 2007. I loved it, but didn't pick it up until after I returned from England and wanted to do something with all the costumes I seemed to have.

What's your favourite thing about being a stocker?
Seeing the amazing artwork that is created! I'm not much of a visual artistic, but love the genre. It is nice for a woman to be considered a 'muse' of sorts *giggle*

Stock and Resources: Policy ClarificationThe Stock and Resources community is an integral part of deviantART, both for having an active community of its own as well as providing high quality stock to all deviants.
As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.

Fantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 23I've been making a collection of some of the brilliant stock artists
works that I have come across. It started off as stock I can't provide
myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. The way I
choose is quite odd, when I see a stock image I have an instant image in
my head of what I could do or create out of that piece of stock. The
image also has to be crystal clear and easily altered.

I asked some of the biggest names in stock some typical questions that new stockers might have, in hopes that their answers will help stockers new and old learn a bit! I asked them different questions with some overlap in hopes of getting differing
opinions.
Our interviewees today are `faestock, *Tasastock, and *SenshiStock.
1. Is an expensive camera necessary?
*Tasastock says, "No, but they are damned fun to play with! You can get a decent camera for a decent price nowadays that will shoot good quality images in the right conditions. Obviously they're not good for low-light or anything capturing movement, but if you handle them right you can make do with an ordinary camera, I've known plenty of people to do so."
*SenshiStock says, "I don't know much about cameras, but the best photographs you can take are always going to be the ones that

DD Feature, A Word About Pre-Cuts, and SkypeHiya Darlings,
So here is the promised feature of our group members who have received a DD so far this year! I’d like to say congratulations to everyone! For those who haven’t received one yet, don’t give up hope! Everyone submits some fantastic stock and I absolutely love seeing the daily submissions. I’d also like to take a moment and welcome all of our new members!
Before we get to the feature I want to take a moment and talk about Pre-Cut Stocks. Like any stock, they should adhere to our group and

rules. This means:

They must be your own work, or have written permission from the photographer to create them from.

You absolutely, under no circumstances, ever take photos from GOOGLE IMAGE or other online retail, blogs, photography, or other websites to create pre-cut stock. The same includes stock websites like sxc.hu. This also applies to ALL pre-made backgrounds or Photoshop/GIMP brushes!

CSS Did You Know? - November 28th, 2012

Becoming a Verified Safe Stock Resource ProviderEarlier we brought up the importance of providing valid and safe resources as stock providers. We are the front lines, so to speak, on ensuring the quality and validity of our resources. We mentioned in our last blog (which you can read below) about a way to become verified safe stock providers. There was a lot of positive feedback on the idea. The question was how to prevent those who would abuse a stamp from using it.
~hyenacub-stock suggested creating an alternate group that only certain members can join as a method for preventing the "posers." *EveLivesey suggested the name "Safe Stock" for the project. So, by combining the two ideas, we now have a sister group called #Safe-Stock-Resources. I've spent some time this evening fleshing out the group page, and I believe that it's a good start.

Matters Concerning ArchivesAs many of you know, archive file types represent a means to collect together a number of computer files and package them together for the purpose of backup, to transport them to some other location, or simply to compress them so that they take up less space. Many of you here in the deviantART community who offer stock resources, applications, themes and other desktop customization options are all very familiar with them and use them extensively, whether your file type of choice be .zip, .rar, or any one of another dozen options.

A short history of QuiltingSince the history of quilting could easily fill a book and has in fact has filled many books, I'm going to keep this rather shorter. As it is a short overview there will be things left out that the more historically minded might miss but there are so many facets to quilting that I cannot include it all.
First of all some definitions to help you understand the terms I use:
- Patchwork is the sewing together of many pieces of fabrics to create a new larger piece of fabric that can then be used to make a quilt or a garment or anything else the maker chooses to make from it.
- Quilting is the layering of two fabrics with a filler layer in between that is then covered with lines or patterns of sewing stitches to hold the filling in place. In modern times it also often refers to a piece of patchwork that is given a backing and a filling and stitched through. In this article I will use both meanings.

HUGE HOLIDAY STOCK FEATURE!!!!!!!! (Hm. Did I put enough exclamation marks?) Oh well, good enough. This has got to be the most epic feature I've done yet! : D I hope you all enjoy; this will be up until the end of December.

So here are the coolest and most fun holiday stock resources I could find--anything you could ever need for your yuletide creations! From funny to traditional, to religious, it's all here! And so, here I showcase a North Pole-sized bunch of fantastic stock photographers and their relatively unseen stock and resource pictures for use for reference, photomanipulation, and other sundry awesomeness.
