So here’s the deal on Hummel Park…it’s supposedly really haunted, and there are all sorts of urban legends about it (most if not all are untrue, but it makes for great storytelling.)

There were supposedly lynchings of black people, a colony of albinistic people shunned by society, sacrifices (both animal and human), suicides, and a Native American burial ground. There is the haunted staircase (or "morphing" stairs), which supposedly cannot be counted, because if one tries, he never gets the same answer--(I did. Twice. And there are over 200 stairs...ugh I was tired.)--and the devil's slide, a very, very steep slope of land on a cliff. There are old shelters and gazebos--and I could have sworn there was a stone slab somewhere that was supposedly used for dark rituals as an altar. >D

Unfortunately, they’ve cleaned the place up a lot, so while it still FEELS creepy in a lot of areas, it doesn’t LOOK nearly as creepy, at all. The place where the altar was and the stone gazebo are both gone…they’ve added a Frisbee golf course (seriously? >P ) And they painted the creepiest of the buildings, and bricked shut the fireplaces at either end! :c Oh well…guess it could be worse. :sigh: It does still have the greatest scenery. C:
